The University of Texas at Austin

The University of Texas at Austin is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, and with good reason. The university offers a wide variety of academic programs for students to choose from, including over 100 undergraduate majors and graduate degrees. UT-Austin was founded in 1883 through an act by the Texas State Legislature; it was originally called "the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas."

This Austin university has gone through many changes over the years, including a name change in 1920 to "the University of Texas." The current student enrollment is just shy of 50,000 students with an acceptance rate of around 40%. This figure includes both undergraduate and graduate school students.

There are countless academic programs offered by UT-Austin; this includes everything from undergraduate degrees such as petroleum engineering and business to graduate programs like library sciences. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The campus itself is located in Austin, Texas; it encompasses over 350 acres with a variety of recreational activities for students including soccer fields and jogging trails. The school's mascot is the Texas Longhorn named Bevo.

Currently, UT-Austin has over 12 colleges and schools including Applied Engineering & Technology, Business Administration, Education, Fine Arts & Design, Liberal Arts Honors Program, Jackson School of Geosciences, College of Pharmacy, Public Affairs. The university offers several sports which include the Men's and Women's Track & Field, Soccer teams, Tennis Teams, Swimming Team.
